Typical monthly spend is our estimate for one small business, excluding GST, from published prices checked in October 2026: Spark Business Receptionist Plus and 3rd Arm Admin; Fresha and Acuity Scheduling; Xero and MYOB; Jotform and Typeform; NiceJob and GatherUp; HubSpot and Textmagic; Zapier and Make. US-dollar prices converted at about NZ$1.70 to US$1. Your own costs may differ. Rows marked Office Manager are on that plan only.
Web chat, texts and email replies each have three settings, set per conversation. Start on Suggest and see how good it is on your own customers before you let it send. The phone is different: once the phone agent is on, it talks to callers live, so you ring it yourself first and only forward your customers' calls when you are happy.
“Booked for Tuesday at 9.”
“Visit booked to measure up.”
“Putting you through now.”
“Booked for today at 11:30.”
You get the AI Receptionist free for 7 days, with 30 call minutes and no credit card. It is for businesses with a working website, and there is one free trial per business: we check every request before a receptionist is set up. Enter your website, confirm the details it finds, answer a few questions and verify your email with the link we send — you have 72 hours after creating your account to verify your email and submit your details. Your receptionist is ready by the next business day after that, and your 7 days start when we notify you it is ready, not when you sign up. Your own test calls count towards the 30 minutes, and each call is counted in whole minutes. Calls stop being answered when the 30 minutes or the 7 days run out, whichever comes first. Nothing is charged at any point: you pay NZ$99 a month only if you choose to subscribe. The trial is the AI Receptionist only; AI Office Manager is a separate paid plan.
Calls to your BossAI number are no longer answered by the receptionist, and nothing is charged. If you forwarded your phone to it, switch call forwarding off so your customers ring you directly again. Your answers and setup are kept, so if you subscribe it picks up where you left off, and your BossAI number is held for 14 days before it is released.
It says so, takes the person's details, and creates a task for you with the whole conversation attached. It is instructed not to guess at prices, availability or anything it has not been told, because a confident wrong answer is worse than no answer.
On the phone, most will work it out quickly. It does not pretend to be a named person and it will say it is an assistant if asked directly. What customers consistently care about more is that somebody picked up at all, and that the answer was right.
For written replies, yes. Web chat, texts and email replies can each be kept on Suggest, where it drafts the reply and sends nothing until you approve or edit it, and you can switch them over one at a time when you trust them. The phone is different: once the phone agent is on, it talks to callers live and cannot stop mid-call to ask you. That is why you ring your own BossAI number and hear it first, and only forward your customers' calls to it when you are happy — you can switch forwarding off again whenever you like.
Not for your calls. You forward the number you already advertise and it answers there, so nothing on your van, your signage or your Google listing has to change. Texts go out from a messaging number that comes with your account, because New Zealand carriers will not let one local number do both.
It works with any phone that can forward calls, because BossAI answers the calls your phone forwards to it. Most pay monthly plans can. Prepay plans on One NZ, Skinny and Kogan can't, so you would need to ask your phone company to turn call forwarding on first. Before you pay, we ask you to turn call forwarding on and off on your own phone, so you know it works.
On price it sits alongside them: the AI Receptionist is NZ$99 a month too. The difference is what comes with it — not just the phone answered, but the whole back office — pipeline, bookings, quotes, jobs, invoices, GST, price list, session packages, reports, calendar sync and logins for your staff. AI Office Manager (NZ$249 a month) adds the follow-up work: replying to website enquiries, asking for Google reviews, checking how the job went and chasing unanswered quotes and unpaid invoices. The fairest comparison is your own calls, so try the receptionist free first.
Not yet, and that is the honest answer rather than a roadmap deflection. BossAI raises GST-correct tax invoices and tracks what is paid, but reconciliation back into your accounting software is manual today. If your bookkeeping cannot absorb re-entering what BossAI invoices, this is the thing that will annoy you — decide that before you start, not after.
Not currently. BossAI has its own booking calendar and the AI books into that. If your staff already depend on a booking system, that is a real conflict: running two calendars is worse than running one badly. You can subscribe Google, Apple or Outlook to the BossAI calendar so the bookings show up alongside everything else, but that is a read-only feed, not a two-way sync.
Two plans, both priced on this page and both month to month: AI Receptionist at NZ$99 and AI Office Manager at NZ$249. You pay by card and cancel whenever you like. There is no quote, no scoping call and no minimum term. Receptionist includes 100 call minutes a month and Office Manager 330; minutes over that are 60 cents each on both, so the cheaper plan is not the one with the dearer overage. The free trial is separate: it never charges anything, and you only pay if you choose to subscribe. There is no GST on top of that: we are not yet GST-registered, so none is charged. When we are, the price stays the same and includes it.
Try the AI Receptionist free first — 7 days, 30 call minutes, no card — so you hear it on your own calls before paying anything. After that, there is no refund for a change of mind, but there is no lock-in either. Every plan is month to month: cancel whenever you like and you are not billed again, so the most you can spend finding out is one month. If BossAI stops answering your forwarded calls because of a fault on our side, we credit your next invoice for those days, and if we cannot fix it within 10 business days you can cancel and get back what you prepaid.
The setup questions take most people under an hour. A new BossAI number is then checked on the New Zealand networks before it goes live, usually within a few hours, and we email you when it is. On the free trial, your receptionist is ready by the next business day after your email is verified and your details are submitted. Once it is ready you can ring it yourself and hear it answer. Your customers' calls only reach it when you switch on call forwarding, which takes a couple of minutes with your carrier and does not change the number on your van or your Google listing.
That is deliberate — the setup is questions you answer yourself, so there is nobody to wait on. If something is genuinely wrong, email us and a person answers. What we do not do is a sales call, because nothing about this needs one.
Any channel can be switched off instantly and calls go back to ringing as they did before. Your contacts, conversations, quotes and job history are yours and export as CSV at any time.
Enter your website, confirm your details and ring it yourself. Your customers' calls only reach it when you switch call forwarding on.
